Wow, this book !
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read historical fiction book but this one as well worth the read. I read it in one sitting.
It set in the 1800s and flashbacks to the 1600s. It has a strong, female main character.
Isabel immigrate to the United States with her husband, an apothecary addicted to opioids, who immediately jumps on ship and leaves her all alone in Salem. She has to use her dressmaking and embroidery skills to get by.
She ends up, falling for the author of the book, the scarlet letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne .
This story is a possible origin story for the scarlet letter . Researchers have the said that this is one possibility of events that could’ve happened to him, resulting in him, writing the book.
